We stayed at Jala Homestay for 5 months, and we had a really good time. Our apartment had all modern appliances, and cleaning was done every week. Staff was very good and cooperative.. Location is good, had all essentials nearby. Thank you guys

My friend and I booked Jala Homestay based on a recommendation of another friend, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip in Nepal. First, the food was fantastic. The best meal we had in Nepal hands down. We got a full, authentic, home cooked Newari dinner with more food than we could dream of finishing for an insanely good price. The homemade yogurt was fantastic (I got seconds lol) and the home brewed Aila (local liquor) was delicious and perfectly spiced. Normally I can’t stand strong liquor, but I enjoyed quite a few servings of Aila. I cannot stress enough how good the food was! Second, the family that owns Jala Homestay is wonderful. The son, Jabbu, is super nice and an incredible singer. He introduced us to his band and we had the pleasure of seeing them perform at the local bar. Finally, the Homestay itself is super comfortable and in a great location. It’s near the busy Asan Market, but still quiet inside the rooms. The rooms have a kitchenette and comfortable beds. Wish we had booked this place earlier in the trip.

We stumbled upon Jala Homestay through the recommendation of a friend and we are so happy we went. First, the rooms are spacious and comfortable with a good bed, sitting area with TV, and a nice kitchenette. The location is also top notch - it's in the middle of the Asan Bazaar, but tucked into an alleyway so you can appreciate the quiet at night. But what really made this place special was the family and their delicious FOOD. We had a giant delicious Newari meal and it was legit the best food in our three week trip to Nepal (and with very cheap prices). We were so sad we found this gem at the end of our trip - if given the chance we would have eaten there every day! The family who runs Jala Homestay is kind and some of the best people you'll meet in Nepal. After talking with the family, we discovered their son was in a band. We had the joy of going to one of his band's shows (they regularly play in Thamel) and we were blown away by his expert singing and their massive western repertoire. It was truly the cherry on the cake of an amazing stay and a fun time in Kathmandu. We look forward to coming back very soon!
